What should I wear?
Wear clothing that is comfortable, something you can move freely in for assessment purposes. On the table, dress down to you comfort level. You will be draped in linens on the table and only the area of focus will be visible.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?
Generally no you do not need a referral for registered massage therapy. If you have extended healthcare insurance, you may require a referral from your medical doctor. It is best to confirm your coverage with the insurance provider in advance.

What forms of payment due you accept?
You can pay for your treatment with cash, e-transfer, Visa, or MasterCard

Where should I park for my massage?
Free 90 minute customer parking is available behind the Mission View Medical building; if it is full at the time, wait a few minutes for it filters in and out steadily.

What is deep tissue massage?
This technique is used to release muscle tension, adhesions, and scar tissue from previous injuries or trauma. A lack of blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to a constricted muscle results in pain. This technique aids in relaxing constricted muscles by reintroducing circulation back into the tissue, in turn alleviating painful stimuli.

What is myofascial release?
These techniques are used to treat specific areas or restrictions in myofascial connective tissue. Restrictions may be a result from pain derived by trauma, inflammation or dysfunction. The term “fascia” refers to the connective tissue that connects all of our muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, joints, organs, and central nervous system. The release of adhesions or tension in the fascia reduces physical or trauma based pain.

What is trigger point technique?
A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. The client actively participates through deep breathing and working within a pain scale. Releasing constricted areas in the muscles will aid in alleviating pain. You can experience a significant decrease in pain after just one treatment.

What is joint mobilization?
A manual therapy technique in which pressure is applied to adjacent joint surfaces aiding in improving limited range of motion, reducing pain, and lubricating joints. Mobilizations are achieved by applying gentle passive movements to the joints of the spine and extremities.

What is exercise therapy or home care?
Specifically prescribed exercises that are used to strengthen and stretch muscles related to your injury. These exercises are designed to help maintain the gains made by massage therapy treatment. These exercises, in combination with massage therapy, will optimize muscle performance, posture, and retrain neurological path ways.
